From the American Hot Rod Foundation comes Slingshot, the story of the birth of drag racing. It’s a story that fuses ingenious mechanics with a lifestyle lived on the edge. Above all a story of how a bunch of dirt-poor kids in the 40’s and 50’s transformed illegal street racing into a new highly organized national sport called drag racing.

Combining interviews of hot rod legends with never before seen film footage and photos, Slingshot takes the audience on a journey that traces and captures the cult of hot rodding through the eyes of the greasers and gearheads, rodders and wrenchmen and drag strip beatniks who made it happen. It’s a nitro-fuelled ride through a truly exciting time in American history, when breaking rules and pushing boundaries was a natural right of passage.
